Gilbert & George are important and influential figures in contemporary art, enjoying decades of critical acclaim including representing Britain at the Venice Biennale in 2005 and a retrospective at the Tate Modern in London. They started making art together in 1967 after meeting at St Martins School of Art. Over 50 years later, they have enacted their belief in ‘Art for All’ by looking at every aspect of human existence as potential subject matter. London has sparked continual inspiration and source material over a lifetime of living in the city.
